High-Protein Vegetarian Dinners: 6 Meals With 30 g+ and No Meat
Share
Vegetarian and high-protein isn't a contradiction. It just needs a plan per plate.
Without meat or fish, protein comes from several smaller sources rather than one big one. Combine two of them on the same plate and 30 g is very achievable. These six dinners show how.

The pairing trick
Pick one main source and add a second one. For example tofu plus edamame, lentils plus yogurt, or eggs plus beans. Each alone often lands at 15–20 g; together they reach 30 g or more.
| Source | Protein (approx.) |
|---|---|
| Tempeh | around 19 g per 100 g |
| Firm tofu | around 12–15 g per 100 g |
| Halloumi | around 20 g per 100 g |
| Shelled edamame | around 11 g per 100 g |
| Cooked lentils | around 9 g per 100 g |
| Cooked chickpeas or kidney beans | around 7–9 g per 100 g |
| Greek yogurt | around 8–10 g per 100 g |
| One egg | around 6–7 g |
Values vary by brand and preparation, so check the label.

Is plant protein "good enough" for muscle?
For most people, yes, as long as the total is high enough. Mixing sources over the day, as these dinners do, covers the amino acids your muscles need. How much protein you need gives the daily target. For mornings, see vegetarian high-protein breakfasts.
The short version
Pair two protein sources on every plate: tofu or tempeh with beans, lentils with yogurt, eggs with beans, or dairy with legumes. That gets a vegetarian dinner to 30 g or more without supplements.
