Creatine helps your muscles produce energy for short, intense efforts – like a set of squats. Over time this can mean a few more reps or a bit more weight, which supports strength and muscle gains. More detail: creatine explained.
How much?
- 3–5 g creatine monohydrate a day, every day – timing doesn't matter much.
- A loading phase isn't necessary; it just fills the stores faster.
- Mix it into water, a shake or yoghurt.
Myths
- "It makes you bulky." No. Creatine doesn't build muscle on its own – training does.
- "It makes you bloated." Some people gain a little water weight inside the muscles at the start, often around 0.5–1 kg. That's not fat.
- "It's a steroid." No. It's a compound your body makes itself and that's found in meat and fish.
Supplements come last: training, calories and protein first. The free fitness check calculates your numbers.

Who should check with a doctor first
People with kidney disease, those taking medication that affects the kidneys, and anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding should talk to their doctor before taking creatine.
